I always got the following error when the installation should start:<br \/>\n&#8220;Cannot start service AppVMon on computer &#8216;.&#8217;.&#8221;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.hosebei.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/app-v_generator01.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.hosebei.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/app-v_generator01.png?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"215\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.hosebei.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/app-v_generator01.png 779w, https:\/\/blog.hosebei.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/app-v_generator01-300x215.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.hosebei.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/app-v_generator01-768x550.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I then went through the event log and found this message:<br \/>\nThe AppVMon service failed to start due to the following error:<br \/>\nWindows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.hosebei.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/app-v_generator03.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.hosebei.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/app-v_generator03.png?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"91\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2552\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.hosebei.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/app-v_generator03.png 618w, https:\/\/blog.hosebei.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/app-v_generator03-300x91.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWith this error I found the post from Aaron Czechowski on TechNet (<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.technet.microsoft.com\/configurationmgr\/2017\/04\/14\/known-issue-with-the-windows-adk-for-windows-10-version-1703\/\" target=\"_blank\">Link to Blog<\/a>), which states, that this is a known error for the ADK 1703, and as solution, you should disable Secure Boot.
