SCCM 2012 – Trace32.exe? No, CMTrace.exe!

In SCCM 2012, CMTrace.exe will replace the well known log viewer Trace32.exe. And now it’s an integrated part of the installation. On the first start of CMTrace, it will ask you, if this log viewer should be the default viewer for .log files.

On the server you will find the tool here: [SCCM2012InstallationPath]ToolsCMTrace.exe.

And the viewer is also available while OSD (Operating System Deployment). In this case, the path for x64 is:

[BootDiskDrive; usually x:]smsbinx64cmtrace.exe

And for x86 it is:

[BootDiskDrive; usually x:]smsbini386cmtrace.exe

Is there a different between trace32 and cmtrace?
From your pic it looks like trace32^^

  I didn’t recognize a difference, perhaps there is none. But as I wrote: The tool is already in the Default Boot-Image.
  But the pic is definitely from CMtrace.exe.

  When you open a log in it, you’ll see the difference! It’s MUCH better…

  Huh? I think there exists two versions instead. Because in OSD the task sequence starts installations still as 32-bit process. I just ran into this problem, because of netsh and a script, which was executed in 32-bit.

Im using Light touch , I could not able to find it .. can any help me install trace32 or cmtrace in my desktop ….
